Thermal Straightening Thermal Straightening is a revolutionary new service to the hair industry. Unruly hair can be transformed into beautiful strands of silk in just a few hours. With over 600 satisfied clients, over 450 return clients, Gia is an expert when it comes to thermal straightening, and has been trained in the Chi, Bio Ionic, and YUKO systems. "You need to be able to trust the person who is applying a serious chemical to your hair. Always ask to see a portfolio or before and after photos. If your stylist doesn't have photos on hand, ask to speak with a previous client who has had the service within the past month. Always be sure that you know and understand the chemicals that your stylist is applying to your hair. Make sure if you have color treated or highlighted hair, that your stylist uses products specifically made for chemically treated hair. The most important thing you can do in your consultation is to make sure your stylist is CERTIFIED to use these types of chemicals. Some stylist may opt out of paying to take a class, and buy generic chemicals at a discount beauty supply. This type of stylist or salon is only interested in saving money.....not the condition of your hair. " "Also, if you speak to a stylist on the phone about a Thermal Straightening Service, make sure that you book with that same stylist if you decide to have the service done. I have had a few clients in the past who I have personally spoken to about this service, and they were booked with another stylist at my salon. The stylist they were booked with didn't use the same chemicals I use, so the client's hair had chemical damage. Needless to say the clients weren't happy with her stylist or my salon. The point is to be informed about the chemicals someone is putting on your hair. Make sure it is what your stylist told you over the phone or during your consultation." Are you wondering exactly what your hair is going to look and feel like after the service? "In every experience I have had with Thermal Straightening, the clients hair right after the service feels a little coarse. This is because the hair has not been shampooed after the chemicals have been applied, which leaves a small amount of residue on the hair shaft. The residue is not harmful to your hair, nor will it over process your hair in any way. Thermal Straightening is very much like a perm. If you shampoo a perm right after you apply the perm solution, the perm will lose its form and the curl will begin to fall out. Not shampooing the hair right afterwards encourages the hair to hold its form. For this reason you also want to avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours. Those clients of mine who have washed their hair before that time have had a slight wave return to their hair." "The hair at the scalp area is going to be extremely flat for 4-10 days. After you shampoo your hair a few times, the scalp area will begin to gain more volume." "As for clients getting chemical damage from a thermal straightening service, these cases are few and far between. These clients usually already have chemical damage before they get their hair straightened. For this reason, I strongly recommend that clients who have colored hair get a Biolustre Treatment before they get Thermal Straightening, and two weeks prior, to ensure optimal results." "Your hair will be perfectly straight after this service, meaning if you wash your hair and blow dry or let it air dry, it will be straight. Your hair will not look flat ironed.......sorry, even I have to flat iron my hair to make it look stick straight, and my hair is naturally straight. This is one major misconception people have about thermal straightening. Your hair during the process is treated so that the ends have a slight bend so that the hair will turn under slightly. If we were to straighten the hair so that the ends looked flat ironed, when you let your hair dry naturally, the ends would look like dry hay. This service will get your hair as straight as it can possibly get with a chemical, but you will still have to use your flat iron to give it a straighter look." The Actual Chemical Process ( Average Thermal Straightening is 2-3 hours) Step One (35 Minutes) Apply First Chemical (Transformation Chemical) to clients hair Let chemical process for the recommended time (no more than 25 minutes) Rinse chemicals for 5 minutes at the shampoo bowl Step Two (10 Minutes) Apply conditioner and let sit for 5 minutes Rinse conditioner and towel dry hair Step Three (1 Hour 20 Minutes) Blow Dry client's hair Flat Iron the hair completely straight Step Four (10 Minutes) Apply Second Chemical (Neutralizing Formula) to clients hair Let sit for 5 minutes Step Five (45 Minutes) Rinse clients hair for 5 minutes Blow Dry and Style clients hair |
