Gia
Wood
the girl behind the chair
Exquisite
style and beauty flow from the fingertips of this stylist, whose
unmatched abilities come second-nature. But what else would you
expect from a woman who was practically raised at the salon she now
calls home?
"When I was born, my mom's water literally broke in the salon,"
laughs Gia Wood, as she twirls a lock of her client's hair around a
shiny gold curling iron. "The Salon is my home. It's who I am."
Daughter of Geneva Glover, the original owner of Du Nouveau Salon,
Gia specializes in hair color and chemical corrections, and masters
the art of glamour and beauty. But the impressive resume of this
Toni and Guy Styling School grad does not stop with color. A styling
innovator, she applies natural and undetectable Hairdreams hair
extensions for clients who need volume or length. Gia can make even
the kinkiest hair silky-straight with her thermal straightening
technique, and she's sure to blow anyone away with her signature
cuts and superior styling. When it comes to hair, Gia, who’s now a
styling instructor herself, clearly has the Midas touch, according
to her world wide client base!
Gia’s
services are not limited to hair. Gia holds a professional
photo-shoot twice a week, a unique service she provides for
all of her clients. The shoot combines a professional make-up
application, multiple wardrobe changes, and creative hair styling,
“where everyone feels like a Hollywood movie star and receives the
full 'red-carpet' treatment,” according to Gia.
"I was meant to be here and I love what I do," smiles Gia. "Yes, I'm
still young, but talent is something you're born with."
"I have
friends, not clients. They just throw money at me in the end to
keep it interesting! I enjoy my work and how I go about it. I am
not the average stylist in some stuffy or snobby North Dallas salon,
who is just after the money. I like to work in a relaxed atmosphere
where my clients and I can say anything. I care about my clients
like they are my family. If they ask me a question or my opinion
about something like their hair, I tell them flat out. In my
opinion, its much better to be severely honest with someone, than to
promise something you will never be able to deliver."
No one can
deny the superior talent Gia displays along with her remarkable
skill and grace. A visit to Gia marks the beginning of a new you,
where Gia guarantees you’ll “Love Your Style!”
